New account at @poiseunderchaos is set up. Migrating accounts now, will announce when finished.

ok, so sounds like this place is shutting down in may, from what i'm hearing. i'm migrating to @poiseunderchaos before i forget -- i'll do it after i get the new account set up. Sound Noise Music mastodon instance.

We welcome active musicians, songwriters, algorave livecoders, digital signal processing hackers, bedroom producers, writers of choral music, under-the-radar music selectors, exotic instrument explorers...

We'd like to stay easy and modest in numbers, hope for a quality local timeline and network with high S/N ratio.

Read our CoC first

then get in touch if you're interested joining our club.

before closes in june, i'm going to be migrating my account to @poiseunderchaos.

i haven't set up anything there yet (it's a blank profile), but will be updating soon.

In the light of instance folding I have started a new, small invite-only instance for everyone who are working in the field of music creation - songwriters, algorave livecoding, bedroom producers or modular synth addicts...

After you've read let me know if you want an account.

Please boost!

The problem with this, of course, is that if you sell nothing because the price is too high, you *also* lose money.

By my own metrics, even on some of my highest paid work (composing, crowdfunded mostly via #Patreon at ) I am losing money. And I'm doing better than a lot of composers I know!

I don't have any easy answers, here.

If you aren't charging enough that after materials you have enough left to cover your living costs for 3x the hours you spent working on the art, you either lost money, or you'll need to work more than 8 hours/day.

Downtime while thinking about the art counts as spending time working on it.

Also I could for example mention the "A Whales Lantern" @awhaleslantern by @masu who brings strangers together to create music with strangers. This is also another wonderful example for how amazing this platform is and how much I like it here.

And yes there are probably a million other projects and people all over the place and I am just making examples.

I am just so happy being able to be a part of this.

P.S.: I am ok, and not dying or anything. Just had a really soft moment. <3

When your only tools are a reciprocating saw and a cello, all your problems start looking like digital electronics.

I want to share something I feel very attached to and that is the firestarter community magazine.

It is a artist magazine focusing on community, events, interviews and learning. It's a very good project and the magazines are made free to be downloaded again. To keep this is the magazine needs much more support and attention.

Hi everyone. @reto here. I'm posting with this account so more people will get to see this. If you'd like to continue, please consider to become a patron:
I have to admit my motivation has been a bit lacking. Some more backers would do me good. Thanks to everyone who has already become a patron! 👏 😆 🎉
